The Naivete' is Stunning

President Obama unveiled his 'public approach' to fighting the bad guys at his commencement address to the US Naval Academy today.  "We uphold our fundamental principles and values not just because we choose to, but because we swear to -- not because they feel good, but because they help keep us safe," Obama told 30,000 graduating navy cadets and family members. "When America strays from our values, it not only undermines the rule of law, it alienates us from our allies, it energizes our adversaries and it endangers our national security and the lives of our troops."

The naiveté is stunning.  I wonder which values we strayed from that caused the Islamic terrorists to hijack airplanes and bomb the World Trade Center and the Pentagon?  (Guantanamo was not open as a prison in 2001) For the full story from Breitbart go here.

The good news is that this appears to just be political posturing.  As Charles Krauthammer writes here, President Obama has continued nearly all of President Bush's foreign policy policies with respect to fighting the war.  If only he wouldn't lecture us so much about our moral flaws, maybe we could move beyond his political posturing and begin to have more faith in him.
