Kindler, Gentler Image

Victor Davis Hanson describes here how China, Iran, Russia and Venezuela have all thumbed their noses at the United States in 2009.  The kindler, gentler image that our President is trying to portray is perceived as weakness by the rest of the world.  Most disturbingly, Hanson reminds us that "some in the Obama administration decided "war on terror" was too provocative a label for what might be better dubbed "overseas contingency operations".  That doesn't seem to be working out to well either as we have seen that the Islamic terrorists are still fighting us, even the ones that were allegedly rehabbed at Guantanamo.  A recent Pentagon report analyzed that one out of seven detainees returns to terrorism.  President Obama needs to open his eyes and recognize that the world is a tough place and he needs to be even tougher if he is going to protect us.
