Forcing You to Save Money
Ever heard of the Energy Advisory Board? Me neither until I read this article by Penny Star at CNSNews.com. Apparently this board of former Clinton cabinet members has a mandate to advance the “deployment of clean energy.” Of course there are the usual subsidies, but the best part according to Cathy Zoi, Deputy Secretary of Energy is that 'we get to mandate'... "That’s an existing statute that this Department of Energy is going to make work really hard,” Zoi said. “We’ve already issued appliance standards that are going to save the American public somewhere between $250 billion and $300 billion over the next 20 years, just by getting the crummy stuff off the market. We’re going to update [the standards] more frequently” said Zoi. “We have the power to do that in the statute.”
How does someone like Zoi get in a position to spend billions of taxpayer money? She was an environmental advisor to President Clinton and the founding CEO of former Vice President Al Gore’s Alliance for Climate Protection. And I thought patronage ended in the 1870's. Anyway, thankfully we have people like Zoi because "As the secretary [Steven Chu] says, ‘We’re going to make people save money for themselves,’” Zoi said. “They haven’t dumped the dollar bills on the ground yet.” Spend your savings wisely, you'll be giving back it back higher taxes and increased health insurance premiums in about 90 days.
